The scapular has descended from a garment worn by monks during the middle ages. It was a work garment, like an apron, and so represents service and Christian duty. It covers both shoulders representing the yoke of Christ.
Our beautiful River of Life Scapular features handwoven, patterned, Guatemalan cotton in the top of the garment. The lower portion in solid color is 100% silk dupioni. Beaded cording hangs freely.
- Our cotton is imported by a Fair Trade company, we are supporting the weaving tradition of the Mayan people by using their fabrics.
- The Guatemalan cotton used will vary, it will coordinate with solid color used in the lower portion of the scapular.
- An opening on the left shoulder that closes with hook and loop closure.
- Available in Petite (48 inches) and Average (52 inches). Measured down the back from base of neck to hem.
